AREA OF EXPERTISE

Application of Biotechnology to Medicinal Plants Development and  conservation/Phytochemistry as applied to phytocompounds augmentation.

Academic Research Area/Interests: Drug discovery from food and medicinal plants for Cardiovascular diseases, Cancers, Microbial multi-drug resistance and Pain. Translational research using Nanomedicine for natural products drug formulations. Application of Biotechnology to development and conservation of foods and medicinal plants. Dr. Odimegwu is a recipient of the following AWARDS; AWARD Fellowship from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, OWSD, PhD award, TWAS-UNESCO ASSOCIATESHIP at the College of Medicine, University of Buenos Aires, Argentina and ACU Early Career Training Grant. NYAS mentor for the 1000 Girls 1000 Futures Mentoring Program in 2020 till date. Mentors for PhD students in the West African Virus Epidemiology (WAVE) for Food Security Program. Dr. Odimegwu is a product owner of Citrutox® an all natural hand and surface sanitizer and PAINOMO® an essential oils infused pain relief medicine for moderate to severe muscular and joint pains. She is currently the Principal Investigator at Eko Centre for Mobile Medicinal VegetableProduction and Packaging supported by LASRIC and University of Lagos.
