Busayo J. ALLI
Faculty

Mrs. Busayo J. Alli is a Plant Ecology researcher and lecturer. Her second degree was in Botany, and she spent it working on a soil seed bank to see how it affected community regeneration strategies. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in botany. She is particularly interested in how liana communities affect the overall ecosystem services provided by forests. She is also interested in learning more about the factors that organize plant communities, maintain species diversity, control species distributions, and allow species to coexist. The findings will help to shape a series of observational and experimental studies aimed at determining the mechanistic basis for plant species distributions, as well as how plant communities regenerate, compete, and interact. She is particularly interested in the significance of liana communities, a typically disregarded biotic element of the tropical forest ecosystem, in climate change mitigation mechanisms. She is passionate about intellectual education. She has successfully mentored at least one Bsc student and provides guidance to both undergraduates and postgraduates.
