Dr. Adongbede is an Associate Professor of Mycology and Plant Pathology at the Department of Botany, University of Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria. I teach mycology, Mushroom science and biotechnology and plant pathology courses at the undergraduate and post-graduate level. Research interests include biodiversity of macro-fungi in Nigeria, ethnomycology, myco-remediation and currently, drug discovery and biosynthesis of medicinally active secondary metabolites from sub-merged fermentation with mushrooms. Sustainable development of economy by converting waste to bioethanol through solid state and submerged fermentation with Macromycetes. Obtained B. Sc., M. Sc. And Ph. D. Botany from University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State Nigeria. Post-doc position as a visiting research associate at Jodrell Laboratory with Dr. Bryn Dentinger (Fungal systematics/molecular identification of environmental macro-fungi (2011 and 2013). Training at the CABI Europe Center, Egham, United Kingdom on Identifying Environmental Fungi and Molecular Identification of Microbes (2014). Faculty member at North Carolina A&T State University, Greensboro NC USA (2016-2017 -Sabbatical leave) with emphasis on research on drug discovery from environmental mushrooms. Wild Ganoderma and Boletus species are currently being studied in my laboratory for bioprocessing of biofuels and pharmaceutically bioactive compounds.
