Dr. Uluocha is an Applied Cartography specialist with particular focus on the use of maps/mapping and Geographic Information Systems in addressing social. economic, cultural, political and environmental issues. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Geography from Imo State University, Okigwe (now Abia State University, Uturu) in 1988; Master’s degree in Geography (Cartography and Remote Sensing) from the University of Lagos, Akoka in 1992, and a Ph.D. in Geography (Cartography and GIS) also from the University of Lagos in 1999. Over the last 20 years of his working experience, he has conducted several researches in applied cartography, Geographical Information System (GIS) and environmental management. He has been involved in the teaching, examining, supervising and/or mentoring of hundreds of both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He is currently supervising five M.Phil./Ph.D. students. He is a member of several professional and academic groups (see below). He has to his credit over forty refereed publications in both local and international journals and books. He has written three standard text books. He has equally co-edited six books. He has served (and is still serving) the University of Lagos in various positions, including being a Senate member; Board Member, School of Postgraduate Studies; Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Member, University of Lagos Central Admissions Committee; Member, University of Lagos Students Welfare Board; Coordinator, GCLME/UNILAG Regional Centre for Environmental Information Management & Decision Support System; and currently Subject Coordinator (Geography), Foundation/JUPEB Programme, University of Lagos. Outside the university he has equally held several positions including serving as the UNIDO Regional Consultant on Environmental Information Management/GIS, and Senior Environmental Expert (Sabbatical Attaché), Shell Petroleum Development Company, Nigeria.
