Dr. Oluwagbenga O. ADEOGU

  • I am an early career scientist with a PhD in Botany (Plant Pathology) from the University of Lagos. I am presently a lecturer at the Department of Botany, University of Lagos, Nigeria. My present research focuses on using edible coatings from natural sources, nanoparticles, and nanocapsules synthesized from edible coatings integrated with essential oils and extracts from plants to enhance the shelf life of fruits and vegetables.

  • I have reviewed scientific publications for Heliyon and other journals. I have had the honour of supervising three postgraduate students and 24 undergraduate students, as well as publishing in peer-reviewed publications and attending numerous international academic conferences.
  • Several academic honours have been bestowed upon me, including travel funds from the British Society of Plant Pathology, the Society for Applied Microbiology, the International Congress of Plant Pathology, and the Central Research Committee (CRC) Main Grant of the University of Lagos, Lagos State Science Research and Innovation Council (LASRIC) grant, Govan Mbeki Seed Fund in South Africa. The British Society of Plant Pathology, the American Phytopathological Society, the Society for Applied Microbiology, and the International Society for Horticultural Science are among the ten professional societies in which I am currently a member. 
  • At the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) in Mysore, India, I was a CSIR-TWAS postdoctoral scholar. I also worked as a postdoctoral scholar at the Department of Botany, University of Fort Hare, South Africa.
