I am a senior lecturer and clinical virologist. I have been involved with studies on molecular epidemiology of viral infections. My areas of research interest are in viral childhood infectious diseases including viral respiratory tract infections, viral infections of the central nervous system and viral infections in HIV infected patients. I won a research grant to conduct a multicentre study on viral meningitis due to Enterovirus and Herpes Simplex Virus I and II among children in Nigeria. My other ongoing and completed research include  molecular diagnosis of hepatitis C infection in HIV infected adults; Epidemiology of herpes simplex virus in HIV infected adults; Hepatitis E infection in HIV infected adults and the burden of congenital rubella syndrome among infants in Lagos. I am also writing a Cochrane review on the effects of antiviral therapy of genital herpes in HIV infected individuals.

I also have great expertise in antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention and control. I am a member of the antimicrobial stewardship committee and infection control committee of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital Idi- Araba.
