Dr. Rose Alani, an Environmental/Analytical Chemist, is a faculty member of the Department of Chemistry, University of Lagos, with focus on Environmental pollution monitoring. She has her undergraduate degree in Industrial Chemistry, graduated from Ahmadu Bello University in 1988; Masters in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Port Harcourt in 1993 and a PhD in Environmental/Analytical Chemistry from the University of Lagos in 2011. Dr. Alani, Senior Lecturer at the University of Lagos (Nigeria), has over 10 years’ experience in research work on environmental pollution, and is internationally involved in air pollution, climate change, and environmental sustainability related researches. She has published more than 18 papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of repute. She is a trained Analyst under the Canadian Association for Environmental Analytical Laboratories (CAEAL) requirements at the Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Research (GLIER), University of Windsor, ON, Canada (2007). She participated in the Lagos state maiden summit on climate change reclaiming the environment (2009). She participated in the 11th Summer school on “toxic compounds in the environment”, in the Research Centre for Toxic Compounds in the Environment (RECETOX), Brno, Czech Republic (2015). She is presently a Visiting Research Scientist in the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO), Barcelona, Spain. Six months visiting Scientist from March to August 2018, and working on environmental pollution monitoring using Infra-red spectroscopy and Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) based image cytometer. She is the group leader of the Air Quality Monitoring Research Group of the University of Lagos. She has presented papers in twelve local and eight international conferences. She is a member of three Local and four International professional organizations. She has been involved in collaborative study with the University of Lagos and several international collaborative studies on air pollution.
