Dr Idongesit Eshiet is a Gender and Development Expert. Her research focus is on women and the issues that affect their full participation in the development process. Dr Eshiet holds a Doctorate (PhD) degree in Sociology and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree, obtained from the University of Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria. She also holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Sociology obtained from the University of Jos, Jos.  Dr Eshiet is an astute researcher who has participated in many local and international research projects.  She holds membership in several academic and professional bodies such as Member, Association of African Studies, United Kingdom (ASAUK); Alumnus, Brown International Advanced Research Institute, Brown University, Providence, Rhodes Island, USA; Member, International Sociological Association; Member,  African Sociological Association; Member, Social Science Academy of Nigeria among others. She has mentored many students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has published extensively in her area of research focus both nationally and internationally.
