Olusola is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Botany, University of Lagos. She had her undergraduate and Masters degree from University of Ibadan and her Ph.D from University of Lagos part of which she did at University of Oxford specializing in Environmental Botany and Palynology. Over the years, she has conducted researches and has mentored over 100 students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her research focus is in the area of Environmental science, Forensic/Criminal investigation, Paleobotany and Palynology(Biostratigraphy, Paleoecology, Climate change study, wetland history and reclamation, Vegetation reconstruction and Conservation. In addition to teaching, Helen has actively collaborated with multidisciplinary team of researchers as well as with organizations/institutions nationally and internationally. She is instrumental to the establishment of Palaeobotany and Palynology Unit at the Department of Botany, University of Lagos and to the resuscitation of Palynological Association of Nigeria (PAN). Helen has initiated several research projects; one of her ongoing projects, which she is the Principal Investigator, is “The Allergenic Activities of Pollen and Spores of Nigerian Plants and their Spatial Pattern” which aims to alleviate allergenic diseases by evaluating the protein content in allergenic pollen and assisting the clinicians with the development of antibodies for immune suppression.
