Dr. Ahmed Kolade Oloyo is an Associate professor of Physiology at the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos, Nigeria. For over sixteen years he has taught all aspects of physiology at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. his research interest focuses on the pathophysiology of cardiovascular diseases, specifically hypertension. Hypertension is an important public health challenge in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa. High salt diet is the most important environmental risk factor for hypertension and a significant population of Nigerians are salt-sensitive.  Presently, my research focuses on the mechanism(s) underlying hypertension, I seek to investigate the mechanisms by which perinatal exposure of pregnant females to a high salt diet causes hypertension in the adult offspring later in life. He won and executed several national and international research grants. Presently, he is the Principal investigator (PI) for 1 international research grant (K43 Emerging Global Leader Award by Fogarty Intonational Center and National Institute of Health, USA); One National research grant (Tertiary Education Trust fund/ National Research Fund (Tertfund/NRF)) and one Local/University research grant (University of Lagos Central Research Grant (UNiLAG CRC)). He has over 35 peer-reviewed publications in both local and foreign/international journals.
