Dr. Olusola Olurotimi OYEBOLA

Dr. Oyebola is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physics, University of Lagos with interest in Optical Physics and particularly its application to medical diagnosis. He has his undergraduate and early postgraduate education at the University of Lagos where he graduated with B.Sc. (Hons) and M.Sc. in Physics in 1984 and 1988 respectively. After teaching at several levels, he moved to University of Lagos in 1996 as Lecturer II. He later proceeded to the United States in 2004 where he obtained another M.S degree in Physics from Central Michigan University in 2006 and a PhD in Physics (Optical Physics) from Hampton University in 2010.

His PhD work was both in the development and spectroscopy of mid infrared laser gain media using rare earth doped inorganic materials and the study of mid infrared laser induced breakdown spectroscopy for the detection of trace elements in substances. He is currently interested in Biomedical Optics and particularly the optical spectroscopy arising from laser-tissue interaction and the attendant possibilities in medical diagnosis. He is a member of Optica (former OSA), the Materials Research group as well as the Biomedical Engineering (BME) group at the University. He is happily married with children.
