Dr. Liasu Adebayo Ogunkanmi

Dr Adebayo L. Ogunkanmi is well equipped with over fifteen years wealth of experience in the areas of Plant Breeding, Molecular Biology, Phylogenetics, and Bioinformatics. His research focuses on Cowpea, Acha, Corchorus, Malus and other food crops. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Genetics. He started his research career as a Research Fellow and Consultant from International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, Nigeria which predisposed him to a variety of molecular techniques and their applications using molecular markers such as SSR, SNP, AFLP, ISSR, RAPD, SCAR etc. Additional professional qualifications excluding academic ones include Diploma in Molecular Genetics Characterization, from International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT), Mexico City 2005, Certificates in Data Management, Molecular Breeding and Statistics, from the Integrated Breeding Platform of the CGIAR Generation Challenge Programme (GCP) in Netherland (2012), Spain (2013 and 2014). He received advanced diploma in Plant Molecular Breeding, Marker Development and Marker use from the University of Virginia USA in 2010.

Dr Ogunkanmi has over 15 years of teaching and research experience and has mentored 3 PhD, 51 Masters and several undergraduate students. He is a member of 9 learned and professional organizations both at local and International levels. He has forty seven academic publications in reputable International and National Journals. Dr Ogunkanmi won and managed 8 grants.
