Dr. Ibukun Adewale
Faculty
Electrical and Electronics Engineering

Dr Adewale is an electrical & electronic engineering specialist with focus on electromagnetic sensor technology and signal processing for non-destructive testing and evaluation. He received his B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Lagos in 2004 and obtained Masters in Communications and Signal Processing (with distinction) and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering both from Newcastle University, UK in 2008 and 2014 respectively. From 2015 to 2016, he completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at the University of Perugia, Italy, where he conducted scientific research in the application of pulse compression and imaging techniques in multi-channel systems for electromagnetic (EM) and ultrasonic non-destructive evaluation of industrial products in general.

As part of his research, he has investigated the delineation and quantification of sensor stand-off (lift-off) variation and defect features in magnetic sensor based pulsed eddy current signals and images for non-destructive evaluation of mission critical structures and components in the petrochemical and aerospace industries using advanced signal processing analytic tools to ensure lift-off invariant defect characterisation, the proactive management of material degradation and the development of a lift-off/tilt invariant EM probe.

He has no less than 10 well cited high impact international publications in this area. He is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE), USA. He is available for research collaboration and consulting.
