Personal Bio-Data 

Professor Aderonke Omolara Lawal-Are is a full Professor at the Department of Marine Sciences, the Director, Centre for General Studies of the University of Lagos, Akoka and The Chairperson, Fisheries Society of Nigeria (FISON) Lagos State Branch. She has acquired over 25 years of cognate experience in teaching, research, and supervision with an excellent track record of over 80 publications contributing to coastal shellfish fisheries, conservation, and management.

She has produced over 146 B.Sc. Students, 75 M.Sc. Students (Full-time and Part-time) and graduated 8 Ph.D. Students with several others under her tutelage.

She is member of many scientific societies such as The Crustacean Society (TCS), USA, Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), Italy and Fisheries Society of Nigeria (FISON), Nigeria. She also serves as reviewer for several journals and attended several conferences with presentations. Professor Lawal-Are is an amiable personality and has held many diverse positions as she rose through the ranks in academia, administration, and community service.
