Olusimbo Aboaba is a Professor in Food Microbiology with over 25 years of experience. She had at various times been appointed Visiting Research Scientist at the Institute of Food Research, Reading, UK (1996 – 1997), the Food Microbial Science Unit of the University of Reading, UK (2005) and the Environment and Public Health Unit of the University of Brighton, UK (2009). Also, she has been a visiting academic staff at the Redeemers University, Ogun State. She is a recipient of several awards and fellowships including Federal Government of Nigeria Bursary Award, Western State Bursary Award, University of Lagos Postgraduate Bursary Award, Royal Society of London Fellowship, UNESCO Fellowship for Biotechnology, Society for Applied Microbiology (SFAM) Overseas Development Award. She has also benefited from SFAM travel grants, Bill and Belinda Gates travel grant and University of Lagos Learned Conference grant. She is an active member of several scientific societies and was appointed the International Ambassador of American Society for Microbiology (ASM) for the West and Central Africa regions in 2005 and in 2008 for the West African Region till 2011.
