Dr Solayide A. Adesida is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, University of Lagos. She earned her B. Sc. (Hons) Microbiology degree from the Department of Microbiology, University of Lagos, (1994) and a PhD in Medical Microbiology from the College of Medicine of the University of University of Lagos in 2005. She did her pre-doctoral training at Erasmus University Medical Centre, Rotterdam, The Netherlands (2003) and The Public Health Research Institute, Newark, New Jersey, USA (2004), where she specialized in bacterial molecular typing. The pre-doctoral trainings were sponsored by United Nations Educational Scientific, Cultural Organization: Biotechnology Action Council, France and International Society for Infectious Diseases (ISID), USA.

Dr. Adesida worked as research fellow between 2005 and 2012 at the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, Yaba in the Molecular Biology and Biotechnology and has considerable experience in microbiological and molecular biology techniques. She also worked as Nigerian technical AID volunteer (2007-2009) in Sierra Leone and visiting lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Basic Sciences, College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, University of Sierra Leone, which was supported by World Bank Assisted Human Resource Development Program in 2011-2012. She is experienced in training scientists on molecular biology techniques and research projects development.
