Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

A professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology, who was educated at the University of Lagos for his undergraduate dental training and Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Boston Massachusetts, U.S.A for his post doctoral training in Oral Pathology.

He rose through  the ranks from his appointment as Research Fellow 2 in June 1979 to his appointment as  Professor in the  department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology/Biology, University of Lagos in October 1996, a position he is holding to date.

He was appointed Honorary Consultant in Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in 1987 and served as Chief Medical Director of Lagos University Teaching Hospital from November, 1998 to October, 2006.  He has served as an Associate Professor at the King Abdul-Azeez University, Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from 1992 – 1994.

His Research interest which focussed on Epidemiology and Biomedical Research on Oral cancer and odontogenic tumours of the jaws  have yielded more than 50 publications in international and local peer reviewed journals.

He has attracted  to his department, two Fulbright scholars.  He has over 20 awards and recognitions to his credit and has trained more than 14 postgraduate fellows of National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and West African College Surgeons, as well as hundreds of dental students.
