Prof. Sote is a specialist in Paediatric Dentistry with focus on total and comprehensive oral health care of children and adolescents including those with special health care needs. She obtained her undergraduate degree, Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Lagos in 1975; Master of Science (MS) in Oral Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1982 and the Postgraduate Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Dental Surgery (FMCDS) with focus on Paediatric Dentistry in 1991. Over the 36 years experience, she conducted research on traditional oral health care methods, dental behaviour management, clinical paediatric dental care, and special care dentistry. She has mentored many undergraduate students since 1986 and at least 40 residents in Postgraduate Fellowship programs many of whom are now Consultants and Professors in various health institutions and universities. She worked as Acting College Dean, Head of Department and as Senate member served on committees and Boards such as the ATSC and the CITS. She is a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons, and has membership of the Nigerian Association of Paediatric Dentistry, International Association of Paediatric Dentistry, Nigerian Dental Association, Nigerian Medical Association and the Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria. She has sixty-three publications.
