Dr. Agomo is a Medical Parasitologist with focus on Malaria research. He had his undergraduate degree in Medical Laboratory Science from the University of Nigeria Enugu in 1995; Masters and PhD in Medical Parasitology from the University of Lagos in 2000 and 2011 respectively. Over the years, he has conducted malaria epidemiology research reporting the change in malaria endemicity as well as the shift in the age group with the highest infection rate from under 5-year olds to children above five years. He has been involved in efficacy tests of artemisinin-based treatments nationally which established the continued efficacy of currently recommended treatments for uncomplicated malaria. Dr Agomo has facilitated many malaria microscopy trainings nationwide leading to significant improvement in routine malaria microscopy in health facilities that have participated in basic malaria microscopy training. He is a member of 1) ANDI Center of Excellence in Malaria Diagnosis of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos; 2) Antimalarial Therapeutic Efficacy Monitoring Group, The Federal Ministry of Health, Abuja, Nigeria; and 3) Malaria Society of Nigeria. He has over 20 publications in international and local peer review journals.
