Prof. Monday Bassey Ubangha was born 53years ago to the family of Chief and Mrs. Bassey Ubangha Egom of Egbizum, Idomi in Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State.  He had his primary education at the Presbyterian Mission School in Idomi between 1970 and 1975. His secondary education, which he completed meritoriously, was between 1975 and 1980 at Edanafa Secondary Commercial School Ediba in the then Obubra Local Government Area of Cross-river State.

In 1981, he secured admission to study for his NCE (Business) at the University of Cross River State, Uyo in the present Akwa-Ibom state. He completed his NCE in 1984 and graduated with a credit pass which enabled him to study for two years at the University of Calabar for the B.Ed. (Guidance and Counselling/Economics) degree between 1986 and 1988. Before this time, he served his one year mandatory NYSC at Ahmadiyya Muslim Comprehensive High School, Oni, Ijebu Waterside in the then Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State between 1985 and 1986. Between 1989 and 1997 he was at the University of Lagos where he earned his M.Ed. (Guidance and Counselling) and Ph.D (Educational Foundation) degrees in January 1991 and 1997 respectively.

On completion of his Doctoral studies, Professor Ubangha joined the University of Lagos in 1998 as a Lecturer II and rose steadily through the ranks to become a Professor in 2016.  He has held several appointments within the University of Lagos including Coordinator, Sandwich Degree Programme; Faculty of Education Time Table and Examination Officer; Chairman, Teaching Practice Committee; Chairman, Faculty of Education Accreditation Committee; Chairman, Strategic Planning Committee; Member, Senate and Ceremonies Committee; Departmental Admissions Officer, Member, Institute of Continuing Education Board; Member, Distance Learning Institute Board and Chairman, Staff School Board, among many others. Prof. Ubangha is widely published in both local and international peer reviewed journals and has contributed several book chapters.

Prof. Ubangha currently teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Educational and Counselling Psychology, Research Methods and Statistics, and Measurement and Evaluation. On 1st August, 2018, He was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Education, University of Lagos for a term of two years. Prof. Ubangha is happily married to Mrs. Mary Ubangha, CSP and the marriage is blessed with children.
