Mercy Ogbonnaya (PhD) is a lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering within the Thermofluid division. She is a registered member of the Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) and The Nigeria Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE).

Mercy main research areas are nanofluids, biofuels, renewable energy, efficiency of energy systems and heat transfer mechanism. Her research focuses on the development of efficient energy system and the adoption of renewable energy technology to mitigate the effect of greenhouse gas emissions on the climate. She teaches students courses on renewable energy, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, engineering drawing and computer aided drawing.
