Obafemi is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and has over 21years of multi-disciplinary experience in Accounting, Audit and business advisory, Administration, Business Consulting, Taxation, and Human Resources Management and Development, having graduated from the University of Lagos in 1990 in Accounting. He is also a 2011 M.Scholder in Accounting.

He had his professional training in the firm of Ighodalo & Co from 1992 – 1996 where he rose from a junior accountant to head the consultancy department of the firm. He also trained with Springfountain, a firm of Consultants, where he made a mark for himself in aviation and allied business consulting, corporate restructuring and re-engineering. He made a foray into the highly competitive corporate world when he joined O’ La Kleen Nigeria Limited as Financial Controller and later Telnet Nigeria Limited as Assistant Manager, Finance. He moved to Conoil PLC in July 2003 where he managed the finance functions of the Ibadan Business region till December 2007 when he left to start his own professional practice, Obafemi Oyewumi & Co, as the Managing Partner. He joined the teaching faculty of Department of Accounting, Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Lagos as Assistant Lecturer in 2014.

Obafemi teaches financial accounting, auditing and cost accounting at undergraduate and taxation and auditing postgraduate diploma level. He was a course adviser between 2015 and 2019 where he mentored many young researchers and scholars in the field of Accounting. He is an adjunct lecturer at DLI and also teaches Basic Auditing in School of Foundation Studies at the University of Lagos from 2014–till date. He has authored several research works in both local and international journals. He is from Okitipupa Local Government in Ondo State, Nigeria. She is married to Jumoke and their marriage is blessed with four wonderful children.
