Olupemi Ezekiel OLUDARE

Olupemi Oludare obtained his B.A, M.A and Ph.D. in music from University of Lagos, after graduating as an engineer from the University of Ibadan in 2000. His area of specialization is musicology, theory and analysis and African musicology, with research interests in African diaspora music and music in human and social development.

He has published his various researches presented at several international conferences, among which includes inter-disciplinary researches such as music and gender, language, indigenous knowledge systems and identity, to several journals. He has also peer-reviewed and edited a Festschrift publication and contributed to the Bloomsbury Encyclopaedia for popular music of the world.

Olupemi is a multi-talented instrumentalist and a choir and orchestra director, with his compositions orchestrated for both Western and African vocal and instrumental medium and won composition awards. He currently teaches music theory, form, analysis, keyboard harmony and orchestra studies at the Department of Creative Arts, University of Lagos. He is a Christian and happily married to Dr. Yetunde Oludare.
