My research has largely been in drama, dramatic literature and theory. I have studied texts from different periods in the history of drama particularly as they address social, cultural and political issues. There have been some publications however on poetry and the novel. The early papers were drawn from texts by South African playwrights at the height of the apartheid struggle. Wole Soyinka, Clark and Ola Rotimi have also been of interest to me. Also Nollywood movies in the area of magical realism have also caught my attention. Generally I find an intersection between literature, between drama and the sociology of the period. Characters mean more than figures in the texts. They are a reflection of the real world out there. Shakespeare is also caught in my research papers particularly the tragic heroes.
