AKINLEYE Simeon Oludiran had B.Sc. (Hons), M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Agricultural Economics with specialisation in Food and Agricultural Policy. He has over seven years experience in academic, research and allied fields. He has broad range of experience in agricultural production systems, rural economy and food and nutrition management in Sub-Saharan Africa. He has written peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters on this subject. He has presented learned papers in local, regional and international conferences.
Education: His Ph.D. thesis was on the Characteristics and Determinants of Household Food Demand in Nigeria. The research work has spawned many sub-researches and publications.
University experience: Dr Akinleye joined the services of the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) (formerly called Ogun State University) in Nigeria as a lecturer in agricultural economics in October 2001. He has taught various sets of sub-degree, diploma and undergraduate students. He is now currently in the employ of the University of Lagos, also in Nigeria.
Administrative Experience: He has held several administrative posts in his previous and current places of employment, from being the Examinations Officer for the Department of Agricultural Economics, OOU between 2003 and 2006, to standing in for the Head of Department on a number of occasions. This is in addition to the myriad other posts and responsibilities he has since held within the University of Lagos system.
Developing Country Experience: He has experience in developing countries and has broad experience and training in agricultural and food policy and rural finance systems. His work on development issues on the african continent has been in conjunction with noteworthy international institutions and organisations such as the USAID and the IITA.
