Professor Ibrahim Oreagba

Prof.  Ibrahim Adekunle Oreagba is a Consultant Pharmacist and Clinical Pharmacologist with a Masters and Doctorate degree in Pharmacology. He also has a Post Graduate Certificate in Pharmaco-epidemiology and Pharmacovigilance from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine London U.K.

He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology Therapeutics and Toxicology, College of Medicine University of Lagos Idi-araba and an examination board member of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists.

 

Ibrahim Oreagba’s research focus is on Pharmacovigilance of antibacterials antiretrovirals and antimalarials in adult and paediatric populations in Nigeria. His research activities include: pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics studies

 of drug-drug interaction between antimalarials and antiretrovirals in adult and  paediatric  HIV/AIDS patients,  intensive monitoring of adverse drug reactions in secondary and tertiary health facilities with the aim of generating signals, pharmaco-epidemiological studies of floroquinolones, pharmacovigilance of herbal medicines, drug utilization studies in geriatrics and paediatrics. Toxicological evaluation of herbal remedies.

 

He has contributed to the development of the World Health Organization/Federal Ministry of Health (WHO/FMOH) supported National Standard Treatment Guideline

and Pharmacovigilance National Policy.

He is also an expert resource for the National Drug Safety Advisory Committee, Pharmacists Council of Nigeria and the West African Post Graduate College of Pharmacists
