Professor Samuel .I ONI

Professor Samuel Iyiola Oni is a Professor of Geography with specialization in Transportation, Inland Waterways Management, Coastal Zone Management, Physical Distribution and Logistics and Spatial Planning. He also attended the prestigious and premier University of Ibadan between 1980 and 1983 where he obtained B.Sc. (Hons.) Degree in Geography. He proceeded to the University of Lagos for his postgraduate studies and obtained M.A. and Ph.D. Degrees in Geography with specialization in Transportation in 1985 and 1992 respectively. He has since been lecturing and researching Transportation and Logistics Planning, Urban Transportation Development, Planning and Infrastructure Management, Environmental Issues, Physical Distribution and Spatial Planning related courses both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels of the Department of Geography, University of Lagos. Prof. Iyiola Oni has, within the period of his academic career, successfully supervised 10 Ph.D. candidates and over 100 M.Sc. and Professional (MTP&M) candidates who have distinguished themselves very well both in the academic world and other areas of professional calling.

Prof. Oni is a prolific writer, versatile academic and outstanding researcher and has to his credit over 60 academic publications in local and international learned journals and has also attended over 100 local and international learned conferences. Prof. Oni is a Fellow, Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics, London, UK; Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Shipping (NIS); Fellow, Certified Institute of Shipping, Member, Association of Nigerian Geographers (ANG) and Member, American Association of Geographers (AAG).

He is a winner of many scholarships, foreign fellowships and awards including Institute of Atmospheric Research, Boulder, Colorado, USA in 2005.
