Prof. Chikodi Nnanyelu Anigbogu

Physiology

Professor Anigbogu is a Physiologist with focus on cardiovascular, autonomic and neural functions in health and disease. He has his undergraduate degree in Physiology from the University of Ibadan 1979, Masters in Physiology 1982 and PhD in Physiology from University of Lagos in 1993. Over the years he has gathered experience in teaching, administration and research both locally and internationally. He has conducted research in Circulatory shock, Malaria, hypertension, diabetes and heart failure. He has mentored over 10 PhD students and many B.Sc and M.Sc. students. He has worked on herbal preparations, renal and neural effects of Antimalaria drugs and exposure to petroleum products. He was Visiting Scientist at University of Kentucky.  He was awarded the first International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS) Fellowship for the development of teaching of Physiology in the Developing World, John F. Perkins Memorial Fellowship (APS), IUPS New Zealand Young Investigators Award 2001. He is a member of the Physiological Society of Nigeria, Physoc UK, American Physiological Society, International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease. Received Merit Award, Lagos University Medical Society. He is an Editor and Reviewer for many journals. He has won and managed three research grants.Wellcome Nigeria Fund-Research Award, Unilag CRC grant 2012, Unilag CRC Grant 2013. Co-winner Best Researcher Unilag Conference and fair 2012, 2014. He has facilitated equipment (University of Kentucky, AD Instruments, Seedings Lab Project) and book donations and promoted international collaboration and workshops on teaching and research skills
