Dr Alfred Azenabor is a scientifically qualified clinical chemist and a fellow of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria. His research interest is Metabolic Syndrome, Endocrinology and Nutrition related Pathologies.  The main thrust of the line of investigation of Dr Alfred Azenabor has been to advance the understanding of the immuno – pathogenesis of diabetic microvascular complications and metabolic syndrome in general. He had his professional training from the University of Benin Teaching Hospital in 1992 and obtained his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Chemical Pathology in 2005 and 2012 respectively from the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Nigeria.  He lectures and supervises both undergraduates and postgraduates students of the University of Lagos as well as postgraduate fellowship students of Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria. With a span of over fifteen years in lecturing and research; Alfred has successfully mentored over thirty students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Data from his PhD thesis provided insights into the therapeutic usage of some immune modulators in delaying the development of microvascular complications in Diabetes mellitus. His graduate study on the role of trace elements in seminal quality exposed him to the vast role played by the pathobiology of micronutrients in the biochemical lesion underlying some forms of infertility. Other data from his research group have provided evidence that subclinical hypothyroidism confers neuro- protective effect in acute ischaemic stroke, which provides explanations on the level of consciousness, milder neurological deficit at presentation and more favourable outcome. Dr Alfred Azenabor has a burning desire to further collaborate with researchers across the globe in a bid to effectively integrate the knowledge acquired over the years in basic research to translational medicine.   He is a member several professional bodies including Nigerian Association of Clinical Chemist among others. He has over twenty five publications in both national and international peer reviewed journals.
