Adebayo joined the service of University of Lagos in 2008 as an Assistant Lecturer and rose through the rank to Lecturer Grade I in October 2019. He teaches Economic Theory, International Economics, International Monetary Finance, Development, Econometrics at undergraduate and Post-Graduate levels.

 He is widely published in both local and foreign journals and attended learned conferences in the United Kingdom, United States, South Africa, Ethiopia, and a host of other countries. He was a participant at the African Trade Week (ATW) in 2016 at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), a think tank for fine turning the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He is a member of some professional organizations among which are World Business Institute in Australia, a fellow of West African Institute, Cape Verde, Nigerian Economic Society (NES), Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) and Institute of Capital Market of Nigeria (ICMN). He attended the prestigious University of Cape Town (UCT) South Africa on Social Science Research using Household Survey Data in 2017.
